OW Heritage Room
The OW’s have been given a side room in the chapel to convert into a Heritage Room with a view to displaying all manner of artifacts and documents from College history for visitors to peruse and reminisce over. We have already made a good start in deciding how we would like to set the room up and hope that some of you may be able to contribute anything that you may consider to be of interest. We are thinking of things like metalwork or woodwork projects that people are prepared to "let go" (on the assumption that they haven't become family heirlooms by now!!) We are not sure what to ask the girls to donate though? A cookery apron perhaps!!?? If you have any other ideas please let us know.
We have discovered that there are several years for which we have no College Magazine. If you have a copy from one of the following years which you would be prepared to donate to us please get in touch
- 1954, 1956, 1958, 1959, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970.
In trawling through the items that have accumulated in the Heritage Room, we have copies of the School/Student Directories that were produced every year detailing the names of pupils, houses, courses, etc.
Whilst we have quite a few from the mid 1970’s to the present day, there are many gaps especially from the start of the College/Grammar School in 1951 to the early 1970’s.
The only copy that hasn’t come directly from the College was purloined from the Library in the early 1970’s. We wonder whether there was any similar light fingeredness from any other students who have squirreled away such important documents from the College history!!!?
The missing directories are :-
1951/52 to 1970/71
1981/82 to 1987/88
1991/92 - 6th form directories only required
1992/93 - 6th form directories only required
If you have any of the above, we would be grateful to receive them in order that we can have a complete set of directories that covers all the pupils who have attended Wymondham College. We don’t necessarily need the originals – copies would be fine. If you can assist, please contact Phil
