Steven Seaton (row 4 no. 22) was known to all as 'Fumble.' Derives from Fumblebum, as he broke three toilet seats in one day - don't ask me how! 

Of the staff, David Cross (row 2 no. 17) and Joe Boyle (row 2 no. 35) were both English teachers who were resident in the male staff flat. I think they were only there for the 1977/78 year.  Joe Boyle was a very kindly Irishman who often used to bring a joke book with him when on lights out duty - also a devout Catholic who was always on the bus to the church at Wymondham on a Sunday that was provided for the thirty or so of us who were left-footers (another Semmence coach operation).  The best thing about the Sunday mornings out was that if New Hall were on 2nd Chapel (services were split in two to accommodate all attending), on our return shortly after 11am we had the run of an otherwise deserted House - no staff about either!. I think the only regular member of staff accompanying us in my time (76-81) was Mr Mowl with his family.

Cathy Johnson (row 2 no. 30 - Art) I think has only just retired in the last year or two. I think she'd more recently been acting as an exam invigilator according to the main WC site, but can't think which month's newsletter I saw it in.

Steve Price (row 2 no. 31- French) was a young teacher who I think started with us, and was our year tutor when I started. Very popular, even though we sometimes gave him more stick than he deserved. Think he went on to a senior post elsewhere in the mid-80s.
