The high jump is now established in its new location behind the pavilion. Gerry Moon of West house straddles the bar - but who is it in the second photo (below)?  The sand in this landing area was quite hard and very rarely raked so the landings were often uncomfortable. It was not until the early 70's that large foam landing pads were available. Brings back memories of western roll or straddle.
