Sports Day 1965
Copied from the 1965 College Magazine

Fulfilment - Mervyn Boast - Three Records Bettered.

My great friend and fellow guitarist Merv Boast of York House; among the best (if not THE best) of the athletes and Rugby wingers in the College's history. On Sports Day 1965, Merv won the 200 yards Low Hurdles (24.4s), 100 yards (10.4s), 440 yards (52.9s) and Weight (shot putt?) (41' 9"), setting new records for the last three. He also ran as anchor in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 440 relay races, both of which were won by York. I can picture him now, in the previous year's 4 x 440, gaining the lead and cruising round the final bend to a crescendo of approval from the spectators. YES!

Sports Day 1962?

Possibly the last time that the sloping athletics track south of the 'new' gym was used.  At the back, from left to right, are huts 42, 41 and 40.  The object in the tree could be part of a crudely-weatherproofed PA system!
