Young Engineer for Britain (1979)

For his major project in the 'O' level Engineering Design examination, Kevin Rochfort designed and built an electronic control system for a pelican crossing that the Department of Technology was installing at Little Plumstead hospital.  At the national finals of the YEB, held at the Wembley Conference Centre, Kevin won the 1979 competition for the 16/17 age group.

Mr Hornby of Plessey Controls presents the Warden with a cheque for £250 to go towards the development of the electronics/micro-electronics laboratory in the College's Department of Technology.  The working model of the pelican crossing was presented to the Norfolk Road Safety Committee.
