KETT HALL 1974/2015

Cast your mind back 42 years to Kett Hall, Wymondham College, 1974. Girls’ house captain was Jan Cummings (now Lennon), Boys’ house captain was William ‘Trev’ Trevethick.
After A-levels, Jan trained as a teacher and married Denis, also a teacher. They worked in Germany, moved back to the UK, have two delightful daughters, both became head teachers in Devon, then moved to the Midlands, where they now work in adult education and with special needs learners.
Trev worked as a dustman (anybody remember him collecting the bins from the College?), trained as a journalist, did a degree in Chinese at Leeds University, lived in China and the Far East, returned to the UK, lives in Shipston on Stour, Warwickshire and now works at The Mail on Sunday.
Some four years ago Jan’s younger sister, Sarah (also ex-Kett Hall, now living in Holland), contacted Trev through Linked In and told him that Jan also lives in Warwickshire – just three miles from Shipston. By sheer coincidence, both moved there at roughly the same time in 2007, but their paths had not crossed.
Since then they have, naturally, met up, most recently at the White Bear in Shipston, and these must surely be the only pictures of two house captains of the same hall at the same time together again after nearly 42 years! They worked together officially again at Trev’s 60th birthday party in November last year, when both were called upon to make speeches.
But the coincidences don’t stop there. Shipston’s Town Clerk is Georgina ‘George’ Norman (now Beaumont) – who was also in Kett Hall, but the year above Jan and Trev! She also lives in the town and it was one of her sons who made the link between Wymondham College and a new town resident called Trevethick.
‘There’s now a strong – what’s the collective? Chapter? Coven? – Wymondham College presence in South Warwickshire. We’re taking over the area one house at a time – and are always pleased to see visiting Old Wymondhamians!’ said Trev, who can be contacted through the Association.

Also at Trev's party, both he and Jan were unexpectedly called upon to make speeches - the latest duty performed by Kett Hall's house captains of 1974!
