Chemistry Lab (1970s)

These photos date from the 70s but the appearance changed little over 30 years.  Each pupil had a set of reagent bottles, a sink and a bunsen burner (standing on what was probably a sheet of asbestos).  The fume cupboard is at the back and the store room is through the door at the right.  This is probably the western end of Hut 40.  In the photo below there are three centrifuge machines, but what's the device at the far end of the bench?
