Dave Goman was deeply moved by the supportive messages he received from former students and staff during his period of illness prior to his death in March 2005. He gave instructions that the collection at his funeral should be given to the Bursary Fund of The Wymondham College Trust. A group of past-students decided it would be a good idea to supplement this fund by way of an appeal to those who knew and respected him as a friend and teacher and that part of the fund would be used as a College Technology prize in his name.
David Wilson, a student of Chris Bowers (Head of Technology), is the 2008 winner of the Dave Goman Prize for Technology using funds raised by the "Old Wymondhamians" in memory of Dave.
In addition to creating a novel automatic electronic brake signalling device, David has taken the project to a new level by using state-of-the-art 'prototype engineering' to deliver an almost commercial working sample. Very clever and worthy of this entry.
