Cricket Match
Old Wymondhamians v Wymondham College 1st X1
Despite unpromising forecasts on the days before the match the weather turned out to be a pleasant summer’s day. We assembled at the Pavilion for coffee before an 11 30am start.
The Old Boys batted first and Royston Futter(65) and Dave Johnson(69), who scored 20, made a dogged start against some pacey bowling. Andrew Duckham(08) 62, and Andrew Hanby(09) 30 contributed to a total of 172 all out.
The College replied and scored 150, J.Hale scored 60 and P. Johnson 30 batting at No9 which caused some concern as the College got nearer to the Old Boys total.
The College provided Lunch and Tea for which we thank Bob Bales and his catering staff.
It was a most enjoyable day, and we thank Robyn Jones I/C Cricket at the College for arranging the game, perhaps now is the time to cast the net for cricketers from yesteryear, currently playing, who could join us next year to again challenge the College 1st X1.
