U16 Girls 100 yards - 1971
Approximately 1971, taken at the start of the 100 yards straight of the 440 yards track on the Jungle area of the Park. The photographer has his/her back to the line of trees that separated that area from the remainder of the sports fields.
Left to right: Sandra Partridge (red hair, allegedly), Beverley Millard, Jacky Green, Judy Hall, NK, Anne Warner (now Richardson). Starter is Dave Goman. The boys are Alan 'Jimmy' James, Steven 'Tufty' Turner and NK.
Steve Grant: I believe the girls are all from my year and I would date the picture at about 72/73. Definitely not the late sixties. Some information I can be certain of is two of the 'spectators' but why are boys watching a girls race in the first place? James and Turner started as 'new thirds' in 1970 in Durham and therefore were in New Hall also. This must have been take a couple of years after they started that; hence my estimate of the date.
Moira Scott: I know it is Bev Millard as she was in my year and in my house and was a great sprinter. Anne Richardson (now Warner) is on FriendsReunited and would be able to say if it's her or not. It could only be up to 71 as Bev left in 71 after 5th form (confirmed by looking at her leaving year in FR site). She wasn't at the school in 72 or 73. The girls in the picture are in 2 different years at least so it must've been U16 final. Judy Hall was the year below.
I always remember that the 440 yd track was on that lower pitch (from 1966). It was soggy. Us girls only went over there for the athletics, otherwise it was used for rugby I think .....
I think it was still yards for all our time there......no metres in sight!!!!Bev Gould (Millard): What a blast from the past. I can confirm that I am second from the left and Ann Richardson is on the far right! I left Wymondham in 1972 after lower sixth, but unfortunately I can't date the picture any more accurately than the others seem to have, but I didn't start until September 1968 as a new third.
