I can thoroughly recommend cruising a barge along Britain's canals (well, in the early Seventies) as a totally zen experience for eliminating stress. Andy Rowland at the helm, Jane Pearson perched on the roof, Mike Evans eyeing the bobble hat and Woody 'On top of the World!'
The bike was taken along as we weren't sure to reach a spot for replenishment every evening (i.e. a good pub), because of tropical storms and renegade currents I suppose, so the bike was for cycling in emergencies to the nearest village likely to sport an off-licence. In the event, we always managed to moor by a public house (just to study the archaeology, of course) so the bike was used for an occasional wheel along the towpath just to vary the pleasure ....
