In the 1950s and 1960s, pupils were allowed to visit Attleborough and Wymondham for shopping on Saturday afternoons once per half-term (sporting activities permitting). Girls and boys were assigned different towns, so that (for example) boys could visit Wymondham in the first half-term, while girls were able to go to Attleborough. In the second half-term, the towns were reversed. 'Passes' were required, in the form of Exeat slips and there is an example of one on the Forms & Chits page. No transport was laid on, so options were walking, hitching or using the bus.
